We created this tour with one goal: to let you know our island as best as possible in a 5-hour tour. We will travel through some of the most beautiful landscapes of the inland and coastal area of Alghero. The area we will move through is a SCI, or Site of Community Importance: these are areas that host particularly protected habitats and animal species.
Our journey winds through scenic secondary roads (paved and unpaved) and, at the beginning of our tour, we will talk about the cultural difference between the Catalan city of Alghero and the rest of the Island. We will stop to observe some of the most important plants of the Mediterranean scrub and their traditional uses. Passing through farms and shepherds' lands, we will have the opportunity to observe semi-wild animals such as horses, sheep, and cows. We will spot diurnal and nocturnal birds of prey such as the owl. Encounters with other nocturnal animals such as foxes, wild boars, or weasels are rarer.
We will make a stop at one of the most scenic viewpoints of our coast where we can give you more geographical information about the area we are visiting. Continuing on, we will pass through cork oak forests where we will stop to talk about how cork is produced in Sardinia. We will continue by visiting an archaeological park that preserves the remains of a Nuragic village. This will allow us to tell you about the Nuragic civilization and the people who inhabited the island in ancient times.
Leaving the archaeological park, we will proceed on roads with a strong scenic impact and, upon reaching the coast, we will move south to spot griffons. The population present in Sardinia is the only natural colony that has survived in Italy and plays a very important role in the ecosystem. In recent years and still today, the griffon is at the center of research projects aimed at its conservation and expanding its range to the rest of the island. The area we will visit is historically one of the most important, and with the right wind, we will be able to admire them in majestic flights with the naked eye above our heads or using binoculars to observe them perched on the rocks.

Leaving the griffons, we will head towards Alghero and make a stop to enjoy an aperitif with a sea view. You will be able to taste pecorino cheese, ricotta, and Sardinian sausage along with pane carasau and pane guttiau. Everything will be accompanied by white Vermentino wine and red Cannonau wine. To conclude our special day together, a toast with a local Sardinian sparkling wine (water and juices available).
A final stretch of scenic road with a view of the city of Alghero will bring us back to the starting point, filled with beautiful memories and lots of good cheer (not just because of the wine!).
